What is Blockchain at Michigan?

Blockchain at Michigan (BAM) is one of the largest, most active university blockchain organizations. We’re 75 members dedicated to the advancement of web3 through supporting DeFi DAO governance; consulting for various companies like Microsoft, PayPal, dYdX, and Celo; and educating the next generation of crypto startup founders (see: Decentology, Mobius, Soluna).

Currently, we govern for Uniswap (2.5M UNI) and Compound (50K COMP).

Our Mission

To provide a long-term, active perspective to the DeFi protocols of the future — better supporting them through the otherwise static process of governance

We believe in

Why delegate at all?

The beauty of web3 lies in decentralization and composability. Delegating tokens to long-term-thinking groups like Blockchain at Michigan directly decentralizes protocols.

A hardcore libertarian would tout decentralization’s primary benefit as preventing a few people (aka VCs, aka you) maintaining control of a protocol and using it to their advantage. While we agree that protocol resilience is a benefit of decentralization, we think the main benefit is putting more minds to work on how we can best improve said protocol.

By delegating to Blockchain at Michigan, you permit some of the best, most crypto-native minds to constantly think about and improve your protocol.

What has BAM done so far?

Currently, we’re working towards pushing Uniswap towards a multichain future. Currently, Uniswap only exists on Ethereum and Ethereum scaling solutions (Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon).
